The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas will cease to exist after contention between the board of directors and staff.

The news comes during a period of controversy at the CCGD. After squabbles with the board of directors, 19 conductors, assistants and pianists left the group to create a new choir. Called the, it will hold auditions in May, with rehearsals following in September.

The problems began after Kimberley Ahrens signed a contract to succeed Nott as artistic director of the CCGD. The board decided to reduce the hours of the choir manager from 30 to 20, according to Cathy Lysinger, a CCGD parent who teaches piano at Southern Methodist University. Ahrens then withdrew her acceptance of the position, and almost all of the music staff later resigned from the choir.that has drawn over 2,500 signatures this month. “Everything was going very well.
