AMD's CEO Dr Lisa Su took to the stage in Austin, Texas today to announce the company's next generation desktop processors.
Performance - up to 29 percent single thread gain
Available on 27th September, the new CPUs have the same core counts as their predecessors, but with significantly improved performance and power efficiency. The company claims that rather than the 8-10 percent IPC uplift it was seeing in initial testing, the uplift now stands at 13 percent on average across desktop applications.... [+]That's in a frequency-normalised test with previous and new generation eight-core processors fixed at 4GHz. There were plenty more performance claims too.
