Amanda Ruller is one of three coaches working with the Seahawks this offseason as part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship Program. Ruller is relishing the chance as she seeks a coaching future in the NFL. FOX13
Ruller, 34, is spending the offseason working with the Seahawks as one of three assistants that are part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship Program. During practices with the Seahawks, she has been working with the running backs and special teams units, as well as donning a scout team jersey to run around providing defensive looks for the offense.
Ruller has been serving as a running backs and special teams coach with McMaster University in Ontario, Canada as well as with Team Ontario of the U18 Women's tackle football team before getting the chance with the Seahawks. She also helps as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at McMaster.
Ruller played soccer and ran track in college at the University of Regina – the same school as former Seahawks punter Jon Ryan. She's been a competitive weightlifter, tried out for the WWE, and been a member of the Canadian Bobsled and Skeleton teams. Ruller traveled to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in February in order to get in front of NFL teams and personnel. The chance with Seattle developed from that experience.
"Every single player and coach and everybody here welcomed me in," she said. "I want to put that out there because a lot of people ask me that question and I want to answer it. I felt so welcomed and so put into this organization for a reason, to help these guys.
