Pennsylvania's governor and many lawmakers agree that the date of the primary election in 2024 that falls during Passover should be changed from April 23 to a different day.But it's the question of which alternate date that hasn't been settled.House lawmakers on Thursday approved a measure that would move the primary date to April 2 while also soundly defeating a Senate-backed proposal that would have moved the primary date to March 19.
Additionally, some have argued that moving the primary earlier in the calendar would also potentially allow Pennsylvanians in 2024 to have a more meaningful impact on party nominations for President of the United States.In many instances, Pennsylvania's primary elections have taken place well after party frontrunners have been elected, and the Keystone State's results will not affect the national outcome.
