Five fire engines, a welfare unit and intermediate commander are on the scene
Almost 60 people and 12 animals have been rescued from flooded properties as a result of Storm Babet. As of 2pm on Saturday, October 21, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have five fire engines on the scene around Bailey Street and the surrounding area of Stapleford.
A specialist team from Highfields Fire Station is now leaving Stapleford and are available for other emergencies. So far 59 people and 12 animals have been rescued from flooded properties in the town.In a Facebook post, Stapleford Fire Station stated: "We currently have five fire engines, a welfare unit and an intermediate commander on scene around Bailey Street and the surrounding area. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue also have attendance around Regent Street Sandiacre.
It continued: "We advise the public to avoid the area, not to walk along the Erewash and stay out of flood waters. If you see a person in trouble in the water, please ring 999 and ask for the Fire and Rescue Service. Never go in the water yourself.
