Chicago Mayor RahmEmanuel responds to the charges being dropped against Jussie Smollett: “To me, it makes no sense. It makes no legal sense, no common sense and this is an abomination in my sense of justice.”
All charges against Jussie Smollett -- the actor who'd been accused of staging a hate crime against himself in Chicago -- were dropped Tuesday, a development that his attorneys hailed as vindication but angered top city officials who still are calling his victimhood claim a hoax.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that Smollett used the prospect of a hate crime to advance his acting career and is now walking around like he did nothing wrong.The mayor said if Smollett were not an actor with influence, he would have been held to a different legal standard. "It's just not right. It's not right on any level," he said.
