The CDC reported that the states with the highest increase in COVID cases have low vaccination rates.

As the number of COVID-19 cases across the U.S. increases, only two states have not reported a rise in infection rates, while the five states with the biggest jump have lower vaccination rates.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 55.6 percent of all Americans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and the five states with the biggest two-week jump in the number of cases per capita had vaccination rates below the national average: Missouri at 45.9 percent; Arkansas at 43 percent; Nevada at 50.9 percent; Louisiana at 39.2 percent; and Utah at 49.5 percent.

At the same time, parts of the country are running up against deep vaccine resistance, while the highly contagious mutant version of the coronavirus that was first detected in India is accounting for an ever-larger share of infections. Still, amid the rise, health authorities in places such as Los Angeles County and St. Louis are begging even immunized people to resume wearing masks in public.
