'Our problem isn't a lack of money. It's a lack of good priorities,' the New York representative said.
Ocasio-Cortez's criticisms came following similar comments made during a recent rally for 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. At the rally, Ocasio-Cortez hit out at the development of a new military arm dedicated to operations in space.
"It's funny cause people ask, like, 'how are you going to pay for it?' While, you know, authorizing a Space Force," Ocasio-Cortez said at the January 25 rally in Ames, Iowa, as the crowd laughed and cheered."They'll say, how are you going to pay for it while authorizing massive infrastructure for gas pipelines across the United States.
"But, really, the better question is how do we organize for it?" she said."How do we create the political will? And the way that we create the political will is with you, and each and every one of us. When we introduce accountability back to our democracy, that's what this is truly all about."Vermont Senator Sanders has also repeatedly questioned how the U.S.
"This is the richest country in the history of the world. We can afford to guarantee health care and education for all our people. What we need is the political will," Sanders said on Saturday in a tweet sharing video of Ocasio-Cortez's speech.
