House Bill 129 passed and will now head to the Senate for revision.

Published: Feb. 6, 2024 at 5:23 PM AKSTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska House of Representatives passed a voter registration reform bill on Friday, February 2.

The bill directs the Alaska Division of Elections to send notices to voters that have not voted in two years or are not currently living in Alaska. That voter would then have 45 days to respond, or risk losing their active status in the voter rolls.

Alaskans who apply for their Permanent Fund Dividend are automatically registered to vote. Also, Alaskans remain registered even after they moved to another state as long as they have an “intent of returning” and don’t register to vote outside Alaska.According to Rep.

House Bill 129 passed with substantial bipartisan support 33-6. The bill will now head to the Senate where they will address some key differences.
