The Alaska Division of Elections has started mailing out ballots to all registered Alaska voters for the special primary election to fill the state’s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
. Voters can sign up to see when their ballot has been mailed out, when it has been received by the division, and if it has been returned as undeliverable by mail.
“It will not notify voters if their ballot was counted or not,” Fenumiai said by email about the tracking system. “The division will send letters to voters, as required by state law, to voters whose ballots are not counted and the reason.”Ballot Measure 2 If no candidate gets over 50% of the first preference vote, the ranked choice voting system will be used. The candidate with the fewest votes would then be eliminated and their voters’ second choices would be distributed to the other candidates. That process would then be repeated until one candidate gets majority support.
