Alabama LB Christian Harris was drafted by Houston in the 3rd round last night.
A third Alabama player taken in Friday night’s NFL draft gives the Crimson Tide five total picks so far.
Linebacker Christian Harris went with the 75th pick to the Houston Texans in the third round following second-round picks John Metchie and Phidarian Mathis. He’ll be reunited with Metchie who went to the Texans earlier Friday night. Harris had been considered a potential first-round pick a year ago and opted to leave early for the NFL draft after seeing his stock slip slightly after his junior season. The former high school defensive back played with speed at the middle linebacker position at Alabama, spending three years as a starter after Dylan Moses’ injury in 2019 shoved him into a prime role as a true freshman.
The Baton Rouge product had 79 tackles last season, fifth most on the team behind fellow middle linebacker Henry To’o To’o’s 112. Harris had a big night in the national title game loss to Georgia when he recorded three sacks and a forced fumble. His 4.44-second time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine didn’t hurt the cause for climbing draft boards.
