There were no big surprises in the prime minister's speech at the Conservative Party conference; the big policy announcements had all been thoroughly leaked to the media in advance. But he did have one secret weapon - in the form of his wife, Akshata Murty.
'Murty's speech reinforces Sunak as a family man and shows that they are a unit with stability, something which I think many members and voters will be pleased to see,' said political communications consultant Laura Dunn. 'It was a bold move.' But it's a highly unusual move for a British political leader.
