Jordan Dehaven, 38, will be eligible for parole in 20 years, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh’s office. The sentencing comes after Dehaven pleaded guilty on March 30 to charges of aggravated murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Amy Rowan, 41.
On Sept. 7, 2018, Rowan’s mother reported her daughter missing after she failed to show up for work or call her mother, police said. Officers spoke with Rowan’s mother, friends and Dehaven about Rowan’s whereabouts. Authorities later returned to Dehaven’s home, and he told officers he killed Rowan and that she was in the basement, police said.
Investigators found Rowan, who was in a relationship with Dehaven, wrapped in a blanket with a stab wound. A knife was recovered from the home. In July 2019, Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Tammy O’Brien determined Dehaven was incompetent to stand trial and ordered treatment. In January 2020, Dehaven was restored and O’Brien found him competent to stand trial.
