Private doctors group says the privacy and confidentiality of AIDS patients are a very important factor in case referrals. FMTNews AIDs

Dr Stephen Chow, head of a doctors’ organisation, said GPs should be given a list of consultants serving at public hospitals.

The organisation’s president, Dr Steven Chow, told FMT that patients who are HIV positive are usually referred to the nearest public hospital upon detection. Chow threw his support behind a call for an end to the stigma towards gay men, sex workers and people who inject drugs, as a way to eradicate AIDS in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Medical Association said doctors should never discriminate against their patients, regardless of their sexual orientation or background.
