College Park head coach Lonnie Madison talks with Jordan Futrell in a timeout during the first half of a high school football game Thursday, Aug 25, 2022, in Shenandoah.College Park won more than five games in a season just once from the time it opened its varsity football program in 2006 up until 2016.Madison, a graduate of The Woodlands High School, took over the Cavaliers in 2017.
Madison succeeds David Raffield, who recently retired after opening the Bridgeland program in 2017. Raffield went 40-20 over five seasons and led the Bears to two district titles and the regional final in 2021.College Park was Madison’s first head coaching job. Prior to that, he was the defensive coordinator at Klein Collins and also coached at Brazoswood, Oak Ridge, Clear Brook and Magnolia.
Madison, who played football at Texas A&M, won one game his first year at College Park. The Cavaliers won six games the following year and five the year after.
