Another officer, Lysette Murillo, who's only been on the force for a couple of weeks, said she had an idea to replace Salgado's property. The officers pulled together $500 of their own money.They contacted Santa Ana Police Officers Association's President Gerry Serrano, who told CNN they'd been"touched by the story" of how Salgado was the sole provider for his family.
