Daily News | After 10 years, Rowan University president Ali A. Houshmand is more ambitious than ever
the university doesn’t offer enough mental health supports, staging a rally to call for more in November.
“I had to put myself completely through college,” he said. “I worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I cleaned floors and toilets.” “Without that, it’s really impossible to do major things at universities because the faculty simply won’t let you,” he said. Karen Siefring, past president of the faculty and professional staff union, recalled those early days and how Houshmand’s ambitions have turned into realities.
“We believe we have a very, very strong critical mass of of excellence on our campus in the area of medicine, sciences, and the area of engineering,” he said.
