Witnesses told police in Sunnyvale, California, that the driver didn't attempt to veer away or slow down and the car sped into the crowd.

A veteran who has post-traumatic stress disorder faces attempted murder charges after police say he intentionally drove his vehicle into a group of pedestrians in Northern California on Tuesday, injuring eight people.

Sunnyvale Public Safety Chief Phan S. Ngo said six of the eight victims were transported to local hospitals. Two victims were treated and released at the scene. "He seemed to be dazed," Draper said, adding that the man didn't appear to have been driving under the influence."His speech was not slurred when he was saying 'Jesus I love you.'"Cody Glenn / APFamily members told multiple news outlets that they were shocked to hear about the crash.
