Texas, one of just three teams to beat Stanford this season, looked like it could do the unthinkable: upset the talented Cardinal yet again.Texas came out with more fight than Will Smith at the Academy Awards. The Cardinal struggled against the ferocious Texas press all game. The Longhorns had forced 20 turnovers from Stanford in November and on Sunday, again forced the Cardinal into 20 turnovers.
But Stanford settled down and adjusted. After committing six turnovers in the first quarter, the Cardinal only committed three in the second. Still, it was anyone’s game down the stretch. Clinging to a two-point lead with the 2:29 to play, Lexie Hull made a driving layup and was fouled. The three-point play gave Stanford the breathing room it needed.
