Beaux Boudreaux came wearing his best pirate costume before boarding the Jolly Pirate Ship, a new, 44-foot replica of an ancient galleon, which opened on Lake Conroe, Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Conroe. The pirate ship has already taken on a life of its own as residents around Lake Conroe watched the ship take shape at the family’s second business, Window and Door Works.Captain Crimson and his crew lead guests on a 90-minute, family-friendly adventure on Lake Conroe aboard the Jolly Pirate Ship, a new, 44-foot replica of an ancient galleon, which opened to the public on Saturday.“Literally one day, he came one day and said, ‘I’m going to build a pirate ship,’” Soraya Herbert said of her father.
The unique 44-foot replica of an ancient galleon started from an old houseboat Leroy purchased in Galveston. The pirate ship is equipped with two mounted pirate cannons, a sound and lighting system, a below-deck galley complete with a satellite drinking bar, space for entertainment, restrooms and covered seating.
The Adventure Voyage, Soraya said, offers passengers an interactive journey to a time long ago, to the beginning of the development of Lake Conroe, with a fictional fantasy tale brought to life where the lake is explored and the long-lost treasures of Lake Conroe are discovered.
