A Boeing 737 Max declared an emergency landing in Florida after experiencing an engine problem, the FAA says
No passengers were aboard Southwest Airlines Flight 8701, which was being ferried to Victorville, California, for storage, the FAA said. The crew declared an emergency after the aircraft experienced a reported engine problem while departing from Orlando International Airport in Florida about 2:50 p.m.
The aircraft returned and landed safely in Orlando, according to the FAA, which is investigating.The incident comes after the global fleet of 737 Max jets was grounded indefinitely on March 13 after two fatal crashes involving the planes. A Lion Air flight crashed in October and an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed on March 10.Read MoreIt is not clear if the emergency landing was related to recent issues involving the planes.
