Those who purchased tickets to see A.B. Quintanilla headline at Tejano Explosion, the popular San Antonio Fiesta concert series, got more than they expected. It turned out to be a 2-for-1 deal — buy a ticket to the concert and get a free lecture about audience participation. A.B. Quintanilla Y Los Kumbia Kings All Starz performed downtown Saturday night as the final act of the weeklong concert series.
He told the crowd they needed to support Tejano music the way they support the Dallas Cowboys and “do their part” if they want to see Tejano music make a comeback. “This group you see up here, I promise you’re going to see us at the Country Music Awards real soon,” he continued. “And you guys got to see us. I would love to come back but I can’t come back to this kind of stuff. Look around you, this is not acceptable.
