Miami-based firm 777 Partners are reportedly close to a deal with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri
Everton could be heading for new ownership after reports emerged that American firm 777 Partners were in 'advanced talks' with Farhad Moshiri and his representatives over acquiring his stake in the club.
That deal has now changed, with MSP ending plans to take a stake in the club after being unable to reach an agreement over structure due to objections raised around a dilution of security by an existing Everton lender, Cheshire-based Rights and Media Funding Limited.
777 Partners have built a multi-club model in football that includes ownership stakes in Genoa, Standard Liege, Vasco da Gama, Red Star FC and Hertha Berlin. The firm, who also have investments across other sectors such as aviation, are seeking to raise funds for the continued growth and development of their football operations, with 777 co-founder Josh Wander having spoken to the Financial Times on what the plans are for the company’s next phase.
Wander told the FT that 777, who had held talks previously with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, owners of Newcastle United, was seeking to raise “hundreds of millions of dollars” for the growth of the multi-club arm of the company. That process is being led by London-based sports advisory and capital solutions firm Tifosy Capital.
