Although the Stargate franchise has extended far beyond its original 1994 film, with three major television series and countless other properties, the story could still make for a fantastic reboot for today's audience. The original Stargate film featured James Spader and Kurt Russell, a scientist and a military colonel, who discovers the first Stargate, or wormhole, on Earth and find an evil civilization on the other side.
Furthermore, Stargate would do better at Amazon than other shows they feature because of its preexisting popularity. Unlike some of Amazon's original sci-fi series, audiences are already familiar with Stargate and wouldn't need to commit to learning a new world. On the other hand, for those who enjoy delving into a new sci-fi space, Stargate is also perfect for those who have never heard of it. Overall, a reboot series would cover many bases in terms of reaching different audiences.
4 Stargate Has A Strong Fan Base A reboot of Stargate would have a better chance of succeeding because of its niche community. Stargate has a solid base of dedicated fans who would likely watch a reboot without hesitation and would encourage others around them to do the same. In this way, the reboot will already have a set audience. However, Stargate is also niche enough that there are many, sci-fi fans or not, who have never heard of the franchise at all.
