Jefferson County Supreme Court Judge James McClusky faced criticism after giving Shane Pinche no jail time for raping 14-year-old.

Nearly 50,000 people have signed a petition demanding the New York judge that sentenced a bus driver who admitted raping a 14-year-old girl to probation be removed from the bench.

After the sentencing became worldwide news, the Jefferson County Supreme Court said they received “numerous vitriolic calls” from irate members of the public regarding the case. “Judge James McClusky just let a child rapist off with a slap on the wrist. Remove him from his position immediately for his blatant disregard for survivors of sexual assault,” the petition states. At the time of publication, the petition has attracted more than 45,000 signatures.

“The Judge’s chambers have received numerous vitriolic calls regarding the case, the vast majority from out of State, by individuals who know nothing about the facts and circumstances of the case, thanks to social media.
