A joint investigation between the Birmingham Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency led to the seizure of 46 pounds of marijuana inside luggage. Investigators with the Birmingham Police Department Special Enforcement Division’s Vice and Narcotics Unit, along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Region G Drug Enforcement Task Force, carried out the investigation. The operation began when authorities received information that a large amount of marijuana was coming through the airport.Birmingham police said the seized marijuana weighed 46 pounds and has an estimated street value of $315,450.
