Starting next month, Orange Beach City Schools will begin building a state of the art athletic facility. It will be on campus of Orange Beach Middle/High School
. This project will cost more than $46 million. OBSC Superintendent Randy Wilkes says it won’t only be for students, but it's something the entire community can look forward to.
The athletic complex will include a competition gymnasium that will seat 1200 people, an 8 lane track encircling a turfed soccer and football field, a multipurpose pavilion for academic and extracurricular activities, and a stadium with 3500 seats among other things. Superintendent Wilkes says it'll serve all populations of the school system.
The facility will be on the campus of OB Middle/High School on the vacant land next to the Performing Arts Center. Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon says the sports complex will be a multi-use facility.
