The Seattle Police Department (SPD) has a goal to increase the number of women in law enforcement to 30% by the year 2030.

The Seattle Police Department was one of the first to take the pledge to bolster the participation of women in law enforcement three years ago. “I was in grad school, and I had a sergeant tell me I look yummy in front of a bunch of officers, and that was just like, oh, okay," one woman said. Another was quoted saying she was "in a car with someone who essentially started asking me, like, why are you single? So I kind of shut down."
