A certain payment window must be met to qualify for the upcoming £300 cost of living payment from the Department for Work and Pensions.
Millions of claimants receiving means-tested benefits like Universal Credit, Pension Credit or tax credits are in line to get the cash boost later this month. It is the second of three payments from the Government in 2023/24 totalling up to £900. The money will be paid directly into bank accounts between October 31 and November 19. Meanwhile, those who only receive a qualifying Tax Credit from HM Revenue and Customs will begin receiving their benefit from November 10.However, to qualify for the extra cash you must have received a payment for one of the following qualifying benefits under specific conditions, the M.E.N reports.
The DWP has highlighted that these conditions are subject to a "very limited exception". For example, you will not be eligible for the payment if your benefit was reduced to £0 during the payment window - otherwise known as a 'nil award'. According to the government, there are a wide variety of reasons your benefits may be reduced to £0, including the following:
