A 3-year-old old girl is dead and her sister, 4, is hurt after being ejected from a vehicle during a serious Dolton crash, authorities said.
DOLTON, Ill. -- A 3-year-old girl was killed and her 4-year-old sister was injured in a serious south suburban crash on Saturday night, their family said.
The crash happened at East 138th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue in Dolton, police said. Police said alcohol was a factor when a driver lost control and hit another vehicle, which the children were riding in. The kids were ejected from their vehicle and the offending driver remains hospitalized with minor injuries.The kids were transported to Comer Children's Hospital. Layla Nesbitt, 3, later died from her injuries. She liked music, dancing and TikTok, her family said.
A'miya Nesbitt, 4, had surgery on her stomach and is in a lot of pain, but is doing okay, her family said. A neighbor of the girls' grandmother was driving them home when the crash happened, their mother said. The crash broke the neighbor's leg, which required surgery.Authorities have not provided further information about the incident.
