Three students formerly in critical condition upgraded to stable after semi-truck crashes into bus from Saint Ignatius College Prep
A school bus lies on its side late Nov. 12, 2022, after being stuck by a semitruck in Warsaw, Indiana along U.S. 30. Sixteen were injured in the bus carrying Chicago's Saint Ignatius College Prep junior varsity hockey team. The team was returning to its hotel from a hockey tournament in Culver, Indiana.
The driver of the semi-truck was arrested for suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, police said.There were 16 total injuries from the crash, which occurred at around 7 p.m. CST in Warsaw, Ind., at U.S. Route 30 and Center Street. The bus was carrying 23 students, two coaches and a driver, Warsaw police said. The team was returning to its hotel from a hockey tournament in Culver, In.
The other injured were taken to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw, police said. Ages of the students on the bus ranged from 14 to 17, and most are 15 years old.
