Will County Sheriff’s deputies were called shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to the 1100 block of East 263rd Street in Crete Towship where a ma in a stopped car near 263rd Street and Greenwood Avenue was shot.
A 25-year old man has died after being shot Friday night in Crete Township, the Will County sheriff’s office said in a news release.‘It appears that the victim had been sitting in his car when he was ambushed from behind, as multiple gunshots were fired into the back of his vehicle,” according to the news release.
Sheriff’s deputies were called shortly after 9 p.m. Friday to the 1100 block of East 263rd Street to investigate. The man had been sitting in a stopped car near 263rd Street and Greenwood Avenue when the shots were fired, and sped away but his car crashed into nearby parked cars just east of where the shooting occurred, police said.Deputy Chief Dan Jungles said the victim was specifically targeted and it appears to be drug related.
An autopsy was conducted Sunday, but the man’s identity was being withheld until his family is notified.
