The $25 million purchase was funded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, state appropriations and private donations, according to a news release from Texas Parks and Wildlife. Texas Parks and Wildlife acquired the property from landowners Ronnie and Terry Urbanczyk. The new property will expand access to outdoor recreation and nature education, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Existing facilities on the property will be used as a venue for weddings and other events. A proposed opening date for the venue has not been determined, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said.
