BMW's latest plug-in hybrids will be launched in Germany this November and offer up to 62 miles of electric-only range
Kicking things off is the 530e, which features athat consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 19.4 kWh battery pack, and an electric motor that is integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission.
This setup gives the car a combined output of 295 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the powerful and efficient powertrain, the model can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.3 seconds, hit a top speed of 143 mph , and travel 54-62 miles on electricity alone in the WLTP cycle.The 550e xDrive is similar, but it benefits from a more powerful electric motor, a 3.0-liter inline-six, and all-wheel drive. They enable the car to produce 483 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
The dash to 62 mph drops to 4.3 seconds, while the top speed climbs to an electronically limited 155 mph . However, range takes a hit as the 550e can only travel 49-56 miles on electricity alone.doubled the maximum charging capacity to 7.4 kW.
