Yet as monumental as that car is, it's still a car adrift in a sea of SUVs.
Its cabin is pleasantly quiet below triple-digit speeds—we recorded a hushed 64 decibels of interior noise at 70 mph in the 450 4Matic and 65 decibels in the 580 4Matic—and its structure felt impressively solid, even when teetering on two wheels off-road .
