He told his parents he wouldn't' go far

The seven-year-old promised he would not go far from home and told his parents, Paula and David, he would be home for tea. But tea time came and went, with no sign of Daniel. His parents were, understandably worried.

At 5:05pm, CCTV from a local convenience store showed Daniel walking down the aisles. This was the last sighting of him. As the clock ticked on, Norfolk Police tasked more than 60 officers to search for missing Daniel. Friends and neighbours joined in the hunt and in the early hours of the following morning, Daniel's red BMX was found abandoned, close to the river.

In 2003, Daniel's mum Paula said her son was 'outgoing and pleasant' and had friends in the local area. He had gone missing before but had always come home within a few hours, she said.
