According to CPD data, 13 people were wounded by gunfire over the weekend between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Those victims survived their wounds, but two men were killed in shootings just after 6 a.m. Monday.
Police said an unidentified male believed to be in his 20s or 30s was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds in an alley in the 1600 block of South Homan Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
Minutes later, at around 6:10 a.m., a 31-year-old man was fatally shot in the 4500 block of South Wolcott Avenue. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.A 15-year-old boy was also shot over the weekend as he rode in a vehicle in the 100 block of West 27th Street. He was a passenger in a vehicle at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday when someone inside a gray sedan opened fire, striking the boy in the left hand.
