A 17-year-old Utah girl was killed while riding her bicycle on Tuesday morning when she was struck by a garbage truck.
According to Tremonton Garland police, the teenager — whose name has not been released — was riding her bike on the sidewalk near 1500 W. Main Street in Tremonton at about 6 a.m. when the truck, which was exiting a business parking lot, struck her. The victim died at the scene.
The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police. According to the Box Elder School District, grief counselors will be at Bear River High School, which the victim attended, on Wednesday.
