As the temperature drops, spiders will start to invite themselves into our homes to begin their mating season.
Thankfully, experts at Victorian Plumbing have given their top tips on how to keep spiders out. And one hack involves a common item that costs as little as 14p.Brenna Ryan, from Victorian Plumbing, told the ECHO: "[At this time of year] spiders can often be found in kitchens and bathrooms because their prey can be found in these more moist areas, attracted by food and water."
Brenna said one of her "favourite tricks" for keeping spiders at bay is to use a lemon - which costs less than 14p when bought from Aldi. She said: "Rub lemon peels all over the windowsills or anywhere spiders may try and perch like behind the toilet or cabinets.Other tips include sealing cracks and opening around windows and doors to reduce the chances of spiders initially getting inside, as well as using an air freshener or candle that contains citronella - a natural repellent.
