Tahaad Goss was found shot in the face at a residence in Trenton in March, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
The boy faces reckless manslaughter and providing false information to law enforcement charges in the killing of 16-year-old Tahaad Goss, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said in a statement.
The 14-year-old suspect, whose name was withheld because of his age, was released with an electronic monitoring bracelet to a shelter with 24-hour supervision, authorities said. Police were called to a report of a shooting around 9 p.m. March 31 and found the 16-year-old shot once in the face on the basement stairs of a residence on the 100 block of Liberty Street in the city’s South Ward, according to the prosecutor. He died at the scene.
“There were other teenagers present in the house and a gun was found in the basement,” the prosecutor’s statement said.Tahaad attended Trenton Public Schools and played for West End Little League since he was five, including at the 2017 Little League World Series, according“Tahaad was a very happy, smart, silly, and loving young man with a big smile and a big heart,” his obituary stated. “He absolutely adored his nieces and spent every moment he could with his nephews and cousins.
