Investigators are awaiting tests, including of the gun, to determine exactly how Yaniel died and what led up to the shooting that happened about 10:30 p.m. at a home on West 49th Street near Shadyside Drive. Officers found the boy with a gunshot to his abdomen. An ambulance took him to MetroHealth, where he died.
If investigators determine the shooting was accidental, it would be the second accidental shooting involving a child in recent days in Cleveland.
