As we mark 40 years since the first episode of Taggart, we take a look at 10 famous faces who were given their big break on the legendary Glasgow-set crime drama.
Originally launched on September 6, 1983 as"Killer", the series would prove to be something of a training ground for aspiring young talent here inOutside of the main cast, a number of actors who would later become household names first cut their teeth on Taggart over the course of its 27-year-long run.Some were established actors who had already worked in TV and film, but others were virtually unknown outside of their own front doors.
We take a look at 10 famous faces who were far from being described as well known when they joined the cast of Taggart back in the day.Scots actor Alan Cumming is one of this country's best-known Hollywood stars, with a string of huge productions to his name, including Goldeneye, Get Carter, and the hit TV show The Good Wife.
Cumming appeared in Taggart for three episodes way back in 1986 in what was his second ever role on the small screen.
